I learned how to play chess about twenty years ago, it's been rather on and off since then. I've steadily improved and tried so many different ways to improve before finding the right method for myself that I'm confident in my many approaches to teaching. My comments on tutoring Algebra : I have taught Algebra at Remington College and National College. I have tutored students in middle school. I wrote an interactive math education software program to teach Algebra I.

Punctual - prepared and professional. I look at learning rep. styles of students (pictorial, word or kinesthehic). I try to make the learning experience as painless as possible (especially math). I start with pre-tests to gauge where a student is at, then follow-up with teaching content and finish with a post-test to gauge learing objectives that have been met. Depending on the subject, I like to schedule 2-2.5 hrs ateach session. I also like to work out problems for students and e-mail them the results, where applicable.

I remain convinced of the necessity of obtaining basic math skills for success in today's world, and I spend a lot of time maintaining my own skills in math and computers. I am currently spending 8-12 hours per day, mostly programming vectors and mathematical functions as spreadsheet macros.
