First teaching job was in a school for severely autistic children. After being there for a year I taught in a residential home for boys. This was challenging but probably one of my favorite jobs as a teacher. Because of the distance from home to work (about 1-1/2 hrs.), I applied at an urban school 20 minutes from my home. My first job there was managing the Young Parents Program. This was a program for high school girls who were pregnant or had already had a child. This program allowed the young girls to attend school. Due to budget restrictions it was cut. I was offered a position as a special education teacher in the high school. I have been doing that for the past 15 years. I taught American History, Geography, World History, Government, English, Reading, Reading Intervention and Wilson Reading. My comments on tutoring Elementary Vocabulary : I believe a focus on Latin roots is the most helpful.

A student cannot learn unless he is comfortable and confident. My first priority before teaching is to make sure the student is relaxed and believes he can accomplish the goal. I also like to get to know my student to know what kind of learner he is and what he likes. My teaching style is "delight directed" whenever possible.
In 2001, I received my certification in Elementary Education from CCSU. I then substitute taught for the town of West Hartford for 2 years while I got married and had my son. He had a lot of health problems so the decision was made for me to stay home with him. When it came to Kindergarten he still had many health issues so we thought it was best to keep him home and I began to Homeschool him. A Little Bit About Me...

Russian language is my native language. I consider that any intelligent educated person should know at least English, French and German to be able to read Dumas,Shakespeare, Heine in the original. Learning foreign languages was my hobby and became my second profession as patent searcher and analyzer in addition to my technical degree. As to teaching, it is my calling.
