Hello! I have been teaching writing of various kinds for over six years. I have taught community college, university, and private college courses during those six years. I am also a published professional writer with many articles in local, national, and online publications. I have also served as a speech writer, curriculum development consultant, and writing consultant for various clients. I love writing, but I am also passionate about literature, history, and the social sciences. I love teaching! Most of my teaching experience has been at the college level, however I enjoy working one-on-one with high school and middle school aged students as well. As a recent graduate from the University of New Mexico. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BS in Spanish and BS in Sociology, this two combined have allowed me to understand social sciences to a new level. As you can expect my grammatical skills have flourished due to the combination of my two degrees. I feel competent in the subjects of English, reading, and the social sciences. Through out the last five years, I have been a tutor at my University (CAPS), as well as some volunteer work for students in my High School. Through out my experience tutoring a diverse group of kids, I have learned to love and appreciate the art of teaching. It’s important to understand the many differences and backgrounds in every child, only then, we can begin to understand their special needs. I began my college career with ambitions to become an elementary school teacher, earning 33 credit hours in Marquette University's Elementary Education program and logging 80 hours of observation and in-class aide work in the Milwaukee Public School system. Upon leaving this program and picking up at the Universtiy of New Mexico, I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Spanish, leaving me with near-native proficiency in that language and a burgeoning ability in Portuguese, which was my minor field of study. Before beginning at UNM, I taught for one year as a team teacher in a preschool catering to homeless families where I was exposed to teaching in a setting heavily influenced by social and personal developmental delays, leading to some creative teaching experience.
