A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very motivating teacher. I encourage my students to strive to do their best with the philosophy that they will be amazed at what they can accomplish. I try to get my students excited about the maaterial by incorporating fun stories, experiments, videos, or examples into the material. I am very patient and believe that repitition is a key to learning. I like to repeat what I am teaching in many different ways before my students are tested on the material; this seems to be successful.
My first experience tutoring was in 8th grade when my 6th grade math teacher asked me to help some of his struggling students. I greatly enjoyed the experience and wanted to continue. I love helping people succeed. I have an ability to show someone a new way of looking at things, which is sometimes the only thing keeping a person from understanding. I also have a great ability at reading someone and noticing when they don't understand. Sometimes people are too embarrassed to speak up and ask for help, even when I'm there for that exact reason. I think that everyone has the ability to learn anything, they just sometimes need someone to explain things to them in a new way.
I also worked part-time as a supplemental tutor for students of many ages. At two different tutoring centers I taught reading and mathematics to elementary aged students. I also taught reading, writing, Algebra, Geometry, and study skills to high school aged students.
