I believe in a constructivist approach to education. Stusents come with prior knowledge of topics. My goal is to get those students to connect prior knowledge with new information. As a first generation college student, I appreciated when teachers made me feel special, and I try to do the same. I was a Resident Assistant and Wellness Coordinator for a dormitory at WVU for three years, where I received a Resident Assistant of the Year Award. I currently teach four sections of general biology lab and two sections of comparative anatomy lab. I was awarded the 2010 Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year award for the Department of Biology with a 93% evaluation rate. I was Director of Education for two years and then served as Superintendent of Schools for two districts for a total of 15 years.
