When writing a teaching resume, think about including a Prof

I like to break down whatever skill I'm teaching in the simplest form at first. This means explaining the concept of the skill in a way that the student can understand what it is we are trying to do. I also try to use a pictorial representation of the skill if that is needed. After that I'll show them how I work a problem with that particular skill so they can see firsthand what the thought process is and the steps that are needed to use that particular skill whether it is adding fractions or solving equations, etc. Then I'll give the student a problem to do on their own while I guide them through the steps. If they get off on a particular step I'll correct them immediately and get them on the right path. Once I feel they understand what is going on and how to work a problem, I'll give them a problem to do without me watching them and see if they can get the answer right by themselves. Learning is not optional. Remember...

I have been teaching and tutoring a diverse student population for almost 9 years. So far, it has been a mutually interesting experience for both parts, students and teacher. I started my teaching career through instructing languages, mainly French, my native language, for the one and a half year, and then I included different sorts of Math as well till the present. I have in possession a Bachelor's degree, two Master's degrees and an ongoing PhD. My main field stream is teaching methods and theories of languages, multiple subjects and special need instruction as well. During my teaching and tutoring experience, I have had the chance to explore different kinds of students learning backgrounds and helping them accordingly. I am a teacher and a tutor, yet, I have gone through quite an interestingly rich learning experience myself. I have helped students coming from wealthy and rich ... read more

Math, Science, ACT, SAT, APs, College Apps

I tend to assess the individual's academic needs and then formulate a plan that accomplishes the student's academic goals, while still adhering to the student's needs. I cannot present exactly which teaching approach I will use until I meet with my student and discuss their current academic status.
I'm a current pre-medical student studying Economics and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. I am ecstatic to help my fellow Georgians achieve all of their academic goals. I have been helping my classmates with schoolwork since I can remember, and I feel like tutoring is a natural transition for me. My greatest strength is math, but I am adept in the majority of academic areas. I am able to work with kids of all ages, from fundamentals to standardized test preparation (primarily the ACT, SAT, and AP exams) to college applications. A Little Bit About Me...

I change my teaching style depending on the client. With ESL students, I will often point out every mistake to them so that they can get used to seeing what the correct way looks like. With other students, I point out a few mistakes, and then expect them to find the others on their own. With math, I will give out a sample problem, work out how it is done, then expect the student to do a new math problem on his or her own. All in all, I will adjust my teaching style depending on the needs of the client.
I have tutored several people in the past in basic algebra for various things such as the GED or a college class. I worked for two years as a tutor at the Augusta State University Writing Center, tutoring all manner of students, from ESL to graduate students.
