A Little Bit About Me...

I like to make a formal or informal assessment of a student's abilities during the first meeting. I design my lessons to remediate weaknesses and build on strengths. My main goal is to have students feel comfortable with me so they can do their very best.
I am a recently retired Special Ed. Teacher who specializes in Reading and Writing, especially for deaf or dyslexic students. I have tutored throughout my public and private school career, usually working with former students. Since I am certified to teach using the Wilson Reading Program, I often use these materials to teach phonics skills. I also focus on comprehension skills.

While attending High School, I was involved with the Special Education students as an aide, in addition to running a classroom of 2 and 3 year olds at a child care facility. I am currently a student (Senior) at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. The degree that I am striving for is English and Special Education (P-5), which will also certify me for general education.
