American History Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in New Castle, CO

I have worked with children in one role or another for the past ten years. Last semester I student taught 8th grade American History in Fort Collins and completed my social studies licensure. I then substitute taught a myriad of subjects from English to Math, grades pre-K through 12th grade. Before that I spent four years going through CSU's education department and semesters with students ranging 6th grade to 12th grade. I like to make connections between what is relevant in the world right now to the subject matter.

Helping and watching children learn is inherently rewarding. While skills and content must be mastered, methods can and should be tailored to the individual student. Each child has her/his own style of cognitive processing and problem solving. Attention to the learner's style is critical to the successful acquisition of skills and concepts. My experience comes from earning a bachelor degree in Computer Studies. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing many research papers. I am currently a graduate student in Systems Information Technology, and am also working on a diploma for medical transcriptionist. While serving in the military I was involved in volunteer work rescuing animals, held a position as Secretary for the American International Women's Club and am now a member of the American Legion Region eight. I am also volunteering this week for the West Fest as a ticket agent. I am a self starter, and am good at trying to help someone to see what their potential can be. I bring a lot of energy to the classroom and ensure that I am over-prepared for each lesson. I enjoy involving every student in a classroom setting and encourage an active, open learning environment. I also believe it is a very valuable experience to be able to work with students one-on-one. I like to work with each student to figure out his or her individual learning style and needs. Though it may not be applicable for this position, I try to plan group activities when possible, so that students can learn from one another and help each other work through problems.
