I have been teaching for over twenty years, primarily Middle School Language Arts. I have also taught Head Start, fourth grade, third through eighth grade science, and kindergarten through eighth grade music. I earned my Master’s degree in Classroom Education with an emphasis in MS Language Arts. Desiring to help as many students as possible, I continued taking classes toward a Reading Specialist’s degree. I was unable to complete the last class, a practicum course, because we moved out of state. Teaching is a wonderful experience! My teaching style is laid-back, I'd say. I like having conversations in order to determine how someone learns. I think people learn best when discussing the material and really think it out before they start creating something. Guiding a student down the path of their own learning style is important because they will need those skills in the future when they go off to college or start a career on their own. The experience of twenty-three years in the classroom has taught me a great deal about how to address a wide range of skills and abilities in students. I know that some students learn better using auditory means, while others learn more visually, or that some are linguistic learners, some spatial learners, and some learn through body kinesthetics. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very motivating teacher. I encourage my students to strive to do their best with the philosophy that they will be amazed at what they can accomplish. I try to get my students excited about the maaterial by incorporating fun stories, experiments, videos, or examples into the material. I am very patient and believe that repitition is a key to learning. I like to repeat what I am teaching in many different ways before my students are tested on the material; this seems to be successful.
