A Little Bit About Me...

I have previously had three years of experience tutoring private school students in New York State. I worked with students first grade students all the way up through seventh grade students in various subject areas. I was available three nights a week to help students improve homework skills and study skills in all subject areas. Currently, I am a therapeutic support staff and am currently in a second grade classroom supporting students with ADHD symptoms and learning disabilities. As a writer, I have a great passion for the English language. I have experience in both literature and writing through my Bachelor's degree. I am currently an MA candidate in a Creative Writing program. As an undergraduate, I minored in Studio Art. I have been a church organist for the last 8 years. I have played the organ for 17 years. I also play the clarinet and saxophone (12 years). I have a firm grasp of music theory.
I believe that students can educate teachers just as well as teachers can educate students. I try to remain on-the-level with students in order to make them comfortable. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory).
