For instance, when I took the initiative of teaching french to my newborn (now a teen), I used to flip and "read" small colorful one-large-drawing-per-page books with a noun written with its article. Afterwards, every so often and when the child is ready, to go up one level of difficulty, I did just that and my child spoke fluently with complete sentences at age 13 months.
