Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I prefer to have materials prepared prior to any tutoring session so communication ahead of time will be essential. If I have an idea of what is expected of me then I am able to help modify the session to fit the learner. I like to use both direct teach as well as discussion to help guide the tutoring session.
I have a wide variety of educational experience and have recently crossed over into the realm of education as a Special Education/At-Risk teacher with the Edgerton School District. A Little Bit About Me...

During the last 2 years of my undergraduate career at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, I spent time leading moderate sized tutoring sessions. My scientific research experience is extensive as I have conducted 2 years of research in the field of neuroendocrinology. I received the James D. Anthony Award at the conclusion of my senior year for "outstanding undergraduate researcher." Two weeks after graduation, I became employed by the Medical College of Wisconsin conducting research on Juvenile Type I Diabetes. As a student I enjoyed most the teachers who facilitated learning. Teachers who lead students on a road of discovery as they learned, who taught me how to think and not what to think. I model my teaching after the same style I enjoyed as a student. Helping a student discover for themselves the material not only educates them but fosters a passion for the subject at hand. Rote memory has it's place and is essential, but when a student becomes passionate about a subject, then the door is open for them to excel at it.
