My goal in teaching is to provide the student with the tools to discover and learn new concepts and to apply this knowledge to the learning process. I do not beleive in giving answers, but rather helping the student learn how to find the answers. I am very patient and will go over a concept until it is understood by the student. I enjoy children who are eager to learn, but try to instill a desire to acheive.
As an administrator of a school I oversaw the education of children from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. I have eight years experience teaching algebra I, five years teaching business math. I have eleven years experience teaching English grammar from third grade through twelfth grade. I have taught fourth grade for three years, fifth grade for three years and sixth grade for two years.

I am a graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and about to graduate in May 2011 with another Bachelor degree in Recreational Therapy. I was valedictorian in my high school and graduated in the top 10% of my class in college. In addition to that I have 5 years of Spanish I have taken in high school and college and recently went to Oaxaca, Mexico on a study abroad trip for 3 weeks. From a love of nature, I pursued a career in the life sciences, majoring in Biology as an undergraduate and exploring the plant sciences in graduate school. An interest in the organization of chromosomes led to work with a small soil nematode. I studied gene expression, energy metabolism, and immune responses in a long-lived stage of this little worm. My teaching experience began with students at the secondary level. I have taught subjects in the biological sciences at the community college and university levels, and have tutored college preparatory Chemistry.
