I have my degree in Elementary Education. I have had experience teaching large class sizes, but I have also spent a lot of time in small group reading instruction, and I have worked in small group math. I tutored a kindergarten girl to improve her phonemic awareness. I tutored Language Arts in elementary school after school hours. I worked at a day care for 5 years and helped students with their homework after school.
I believe in meeting students at their level of need, and mastering the skills needed in order to move onto higher level skills. I believe in teaching students how to develop their critical thinking skills, and teaching them the concepts needed to succeed in school and life.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate with a BS degree in Elementary Education, I have gained knowledge in the practice of teaching elementary school. I have been able to observe classrooms as well as student teach. I was able to put my knowledge to use while I student taught by planning all lessons, implementing fun and relevant activities as well as integrating subjects. I am more knowledgeable in reference to teaching elementary students and implementing useful plans to not only teach them the needed information, but to make it fun and in a way that all students would be able to learn.
I believe that all children can learn and all children are capable of learning. During my doctoral studies at UCSD, I began to tutor professionally as a way to earn extra income. It seemed like a logical choice for a part-time job as I had been helping friends with homework for almost as long as I could remember. Given my extensive scientific training, the vast majority of my tutoring experience has been in Science or Math.
