Science and Math Tutor!

As a supplemental instruction leader, I created and lectured curriculum based lesson plans three hours a week to college students. I would teach anywhere from one student to multiple students. I tutored students in various levels of mathematics, including Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus. I provided assistance with test-taking strategies and study skills for college mathematics courses. I love tutoring and mentoring kids, period. It's spiriturally rewarding to me as an adult to have a part in a child's development. I believe every child is special. I just recently completed my first semester of teaching University 101 at the University of South Carolina. This course allowed me to find out how much I enjoy teaching. I like to be able to make a personal connection with the students and learn about their learning styles and much more. I feel like each person who is in a teaching capacity has the ability to motivate and help each child in the classroom. A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring as a volunteer with the America Reads program in high school. I continued volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club during college. After an opportunity to assist a professor in administering a freshman course, I applied to teach high school in Pasco County. I taught world history and psychology for one year before returning to school for my Master of Arts degree in History. I continued tutoring on the side, but spent most of my time assisting professors in the Department of History at Winthrop University as a Graduate Assistant where I edited exams and papers for undergraduate students. During the last year of my program, I worked with an SES program in South Carolina, tutoring both reading and math.
