I have worked as a tutor for 5 years. I worked as a volunteer peer tutor at my high school throughout my time there and fell in love with it. I am now a freshman at Saint Louis University majoring in biology on a pre-medical track. I have tutored in a variety of subjects ranging from biology, zoology, algebra 1, algebra 2 and chemistry to english and composition.
I am a huge supporter students tutoring students. I have found that working with students helps to take down a barrier between the tutor and tutee. Students are more comfortable to work with peers than an authority. My first priority is to listen, listen to what the tutee is looking to get out of the experience. I am currently going to college to get an associates in accounting. In high School I took advanced math classes such as honors geometry as a freshman, algebra 2 as a sophomore, college algebra as a junior, and calculus as a senior. In college I had to re-take college algebra and passed with a 90% and higher. I also took calculus for business and passed with a high B.

I am very passionate about teaching. I am a very hands-on type of teacher that really likes to get the student involved in their learning. I have a Bachelor's degree in History and an Associate's in Process Technology. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. I possess excellent math skills and took statistics in college. I enjoy helping others and feel I am a good fit for this position.
I do not have a specific teaching style. Everyone is different, so one particular type of teaching style may not be as effective as another. In order to be effective, I think it is important to recognize the students strengths and weaknesses before embarking on a certain learning path.
