Part of my previous job entailed "independent work" from the students for about 2 1/2 hours each day. During this time I would work one on one with each student. I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially like working with High School students.Initially, they can be quite a challenge to work with, but once they are engaged they are fully immersed in the topic! I like to be creative and interactive! I was a difficult High School student so I can relate to many that get bored with some topics. I really like to use transactional teaching methods. I introduce a subject and have discussions about the material rather than strictly lecturing.I like to learn what the student can teach me after assigned a reading. Have them go in the front of the room and explain a portion of the reading. It also helps them develop confidence in their public speaking.
