I worked as a resident assistant while I was in college and tutored several students in math. I am especially competent in the subject as I have received a minor mathematics. I've also have had the experience of providing to some of my colleges while I studied to become and engineer.
My teaching style is rooted in several things. Firstly, I strongly believe in breaking down concepts and ideas such that they are easily digestible. I have taken math for 4 years in college. It is a subject that I very much enjoy-so much that all of my sons are also strong in mathematics. My oldest is a national merit scholar finalist, and my youngest son is captain of his high school math team. Math is fun, like a puzzle-once the student sees this fact, they begin having more fun and less fear of the subject.
I am a patient teacher, and I use many different ways of communication. I try to find the style of learning best suited to my pupil. Removing the fear of the subject seems to be the most important part. I go through many many examples, until I feel that the student, and more importantly, the student has a feeling of confidence and mastery.
