I have worked in Special Education as a pro-paraprofessional for 14 years and as a teacher 1 year. I now work for Cheaha Regional Headstart. I worked with Bremen City Schools as an after school teacher for two years. I assisted the students with homework and also tutor them if they needed help. I am willing to travel to your home. I use age appropriate workbooks to help children to practice English. I read enjoyable books to children and have them read back to me while questioning them on the logic and content of the books. I have computer software learning equipment, learning games, learning blocks, flash cards, etc. that helps children to develop a love for reading/English. I am good at evaluating a child and determining which grade level he/she is at and trying to advance them to their current grade level.

Young children learn best through things that have meaning to them. For example, I once tutored a child that had difficulty learning his multiplication tables, but was an avid NASCAR fan. I taught him the sums of multiplication problems by using the numbers on the drivers cars. He learned that the sum of 6x4, and 4x6 was equal to Jeff Gordon's number, which was 24. We did that with every car in NASCAR and people were amazed at how quickly he learned his multiplication tables. Multiplication tables became a breeze to him. I have used similar principals teaching phonics, and reading to young children. I also, have a history of being patient and understanding with elementary aged children.
