Raised in a disadvantaged social-economic environment, I sought success by joining the military; traveling and learning about the world. Upon my retirement I decided to give back by bringing the diversity of the world into the classroom. I graduated college cum laude and served as the President, International English Honor Society; Sigma Tau Delta. My degree in English Literature provides many levels of the written word by allowing for the understanding of differences that is desired and required by the individual learner. I teach all aspects of the curriculm, with emphasis on grammatical skills. During my last long-term position my students increased their state reading and writing scores by over 7%. I try a variety of approaches to see what works with each student. If you have 25 students in a class, you can have 25 different learning styles. I believe a lot in hands-on and learning from others. Questions are always welcome. I continually do course work to keep up on new approaches. Being teachable is key. I have seen students I work with have success. These students range from the gifted to the so-called difficult child. I love all types and really get a joy out of seeing them succeed.
I have working with people of all ages since my teen years to help them excel in areas they once struggled. A Little Bit About Me...

While my degree is in English and teaching certificate from the University of Kentucky, most of my career has been spent in the area of corporate training for a Fortune 100 company. I conducted classes for new employees and managers and used my writing skills to provide training and testing materials. For the past four years I have done substitute teaching for levels Kindergarten through twelfth grade.
