I have taught public school for 16 years, and travelled widely. Taught ESL in Japan, Panama and Germany. I try to find a method of teaching to match a student way of learning. I am certified K-12, and have taught all levels. I Have taught on two Native American Reservations, and in Japan. I also have a two year certificate from Europe in Merchandising, and have had my own cake decorating business in Panama I try to adapt methods to the student learning style

I have always greatly enjoyed my own educational experience. That has always helped fuel my passion for assisting others in their educations. Though I enjoy working with children, much of my tutoring experiences has been at the college level. I also learned how to present almost any subject in several different ways, in order to be most effective in my tutoring. I have a very broad education. Before entering UCI, I attended Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA. There I took many hours of classes in the humanities as well as two years of calculus and differential equations. Thus I have wide ranging experience in writing/critiquing and preparing lab reports, grant proposals, and scientific journal articles. I have also helped pre-med students prepare various letters and documents for applying to medical schools.

I am currently taking a class online to get certified as a tutor by the International Tutoring Association. I love working with children of all ages. My teaching style is one of non-confrontational teaching. I have had professors who did that, and it only serves to put the student on edge and not lend itself to learning. I prefer to find out what the pupil is having trouble with and then see if I can find an interest in the concept for the student to make it relevant and help him retain the concepts involved. I like to interject humor and kidding and self deprecating comments to let the person know that he/she is not the only one having problems so the student doesn't feel devastated and hopeless. I like to reinforce the positive learning curve and support positive strides in learning and progress. As a retired Osteopath I realize the value of education and the problems that we all have in learning,.
