One of the greatest joys in my life in teaching. Previous teachers influenced my life immensely and likewise, I want to influence the next generation. I have a passion for reading and books, and I want to pass along that passion for others. I tend to be laid-back and easy-going in my teaching style, but I keep my students focused when they get distracted or begin daydreaming. Learning is more caught than taught. If I am excited about a subject, my students will get excited about it also. Setting higher expectations for students and allowing my students to rise to the challenge. Genuine, personal interest in the child; establishing rapport; establishing the student's mastery level, then building from there (instead of an arbitrary line which creates anxiety); affirmation of every step of progress/success; recognition but careful use of errors in non-judgmental, constructive correction; ease in backing up for review when needed; positive verbal and behavioral reinforcement to the student, including reports to parents about same, all these are things that come to mind.
