Turning your weakness into your strength

I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.
I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. Many times I have found that a student's difficulties issued from personal matters, such as a lack of confidence, rather than specific weaknesses with the material. I always make every effort to allow a student to feel as comfortable as possible within the instructional dynamic, and in my experience, this has made all the difference. In public school, the key to teaching success is the ability to motivate students to try their best by learning as much about each individual student as possible and keeping their attention.
