After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a Masters degree in Accounting from Miami University, I began working full-time for a local certified public accounting firm. While working I continued studying and earned my license to practice public accounting in April, 2010 by passing all parts of the CPA exam.
During my time at Miami, I was employed by the University as a Supplemental Instructor (SI). As an SI, I provided regularly scheduled, out-of-class sessions in a beginning accounting class and realized that I had the ability to help others learn. I realized that all students can learn, but that some are not getting the individual attention that they require in the typical classroom setting. In between obtaining my BA in political science and English from the University of Mississippi in 2009 and returning to school for chemical engineering I spent a year and a half working with student governments on college campuses as a political consultant for a public policy organization. I learned to love working with students through this experience, so when I returned to school it seemed natural to become an academic tutor.
