A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate, I spent three years in the education program. I clocked over 100 hours in public schools observing, mentoring, or otherwise working with children in elementary, middle, and high school. I also spent two years as a Writing Center Consultant where I worked with college students on their own writing. I was an ESL tutor for one semester where I worked with two small groups of Japanese speaking students on their English skills. I have also spent the last year as a Graduate Teaching Assistant where I work with one class of freshman composition students each quarter.

Since being a young child, I've had a gift for languages and at age 14 I devoted myself to learning Spanish fluently. In high school and the university I attended I excelled in my Spanish classes to the point of even winning awards. For the past 7 years, due to my intense study, I've been able to, not only tutor Spanish to a variety of students, but also work for Fayette Co. Public Schools as a substitute teacher in the Spanish classes. Coupled with my professional tutoring I have spent this time also volunteering in the Hispanic community and learning the culture.
