I am a recent graduate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, with a BS in Business Administration - International Business and a focus in Chinese. Because this program is relatively new, a degree in International Business required multiple Finance courses, which allowed me to learn many advanced statistical and mathematical concepts. Upon graduating from an accredited college, Saint Louis University, I was confident that I would use my education in the best way possible. One of the principles that SLU teaches its student is to give back to the community. In my opinion, there is no better way to do than through education. My experience includes 3 years of mentoring with Mentor St.Louis. During this time, I was paired with one or two students during the school year. We would have 2 sessions a month where we'd read books and teach the months lesson. I have tutored my younger siblings through elementary and middle school. During my junior and senior year in college, I TA’ed a finance class called options pricing for two semesters. Options pricing was a difficult subject. I worked very hard to receive an A- for the course, which turned out to be my favor. I had insight to the intellectual hurdles other students had to overcome to master the material. So, teaching them came very naturally. In addition, I abandoned the lecture format for a very interactive teaching format. This allowed the students to ask many questions and allowed me to gage the level of comprehension from in the students real-time.
