I try to build on the student's current knowledge base. In teaching a topic I check for understanding at each step in the instruction and provide remedial help as necessary before proceeding to the next step. I try to address individual differences in students' backgrounds and learning modalities. I tutored English and Humanities in the Academic Skills Center of my alma mater, Heritage University. I was a Teacher's Assistant at this university for two semesters and often took over for the class in place of the professor. I tutored primarily college students. My specialization was in Technical and Report Writing. I also currently tutor two minor students in a homeschool setting. One is ten years old and has significant reading delays, but has been gaining reading speed and comprehension with me.
