I worked with a variety of ages from k-12. My most recent experience has been with students in elementary school. I worked for a semester teaching children about sustainable practices and the benefits of buying produce from local farms. I spent one year as a day to day substitute teacher working all over York County in various special education classrooms. My second year was spent as a long term substitute at an alternative high school for boys where I taught all subjects. My third year I started teaching Specialized Preschool and did this for many years until I retired last year. My students had many exceptionalities. I had typical students visit my classroom every week to read to my students. I did leave Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 one year to teach in Baltimore, Maryland. I taught kindergarten-first grade to children with Autism and speech issues. I have 3 grown children of my own who I helped in school.
I have a very hands on approach because I worked with small children. I believe children learn by doing. If they are interested, you won't have behavior issues.

I enjoy teaching anyone regardless of his or her age and level of education. Patience and creative presentation are qualities that help me observe a student’s approach to learning and give them an understanding of how to complete a task. I have found that often students’ difficulties are overcome by working through the problems together, explaining ideas in multiple ways until the student is confident in his or her understanding of the idea.
