There are no dumb questions, only ignorant teachers!

I believe in teaching all subjects using innovative methods that are tailored to the specific student. I have taught C++ programming through the use of robots, chemistry with cosmetics, and physics with music. I begin by listening to the student and understanding exactly what level they are at. I then develop a plan of action to get them to the level they need to be at for the grades they want. I don't believe that there is any such thing as a dumb question, only ignorant teachers. As such, my sucess is not based off of how well I explained the subject, but on how well the student understood. I will spend how many hours it takes to equip a student with the knowledge they need to take control of their own success.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a lot of experience in teaching and tutoring. I have tutored for about 10 years now, starting with my fellow classmates while still in school and now tutoring one-on-one, mostly for elementary-aged children. I also teach - I conduct a teenage choir, taught at a Ukrainian school for 7 years (grammar, writing, reading, vocabulary), and give individual piano lessons. I've received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and have had some experience teaching all grades K-5. I am currently working on my Master's as a Teacher Leader, with an endorsement in ESL.

A Little Bit About Me...

Disregarding my history, ethics, and religion expertise, my main reason for applying is my confidence in my capabilities to teach English. Basic parts of speech, syntax, grammar, organization, rhetoric, and multiple genres--from correct usage to specialized purposes (such as academic papers, business, text for oral delivery) have been mastered. In terms of mathematics, I taught GED, which covered most basic functions; however, I am a humanities person. My preferences are in the areas where I have spent most of my time.
Genuine, personal interest in the child; establishing rapport; establishing the student's mastery level, then building from there (instead of an arbitrary line which creates anxiety); affirmation of every step of progress/success; recognition but careful use of errors in non-judgmental, constructive correction; ease in backing up for review when needed; positive ... read more

I work best with individuals who are self-motivated and determined to succeed. I am the kind of teacher who responds to questions with questions. I understand that a lot of students are just looking for a sufficient answer, but this will not help them understand the material when they are required to take an exam. I am a firm believer in teaching through example as it is the most efficient way to learn the mathematical sciences. Those professors who had the most profound impact on my academic career were always willing to show me various strategies to arrive at the same answer. Therefore, I strive to teach the methods of problem solving as they have widespread application in all of science.
As a former academic scholarship student at Western Kentucky University, I have a keen understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest level even under immense stress. Learning mathemat ... read more

I use the scientific method of teaching. My style is Socratic. I believe, as Rene Descartes did before me, that human knowledge is innate, including our ability to learn and use language. I teach children to learn by given them the tools they need to think logically and abstractly. Life is dynamic, what happens today, will likely change tomorrow. I believe that children need to understand that there are consequences for their actions. The scientific method is a great way of learning cause and effect. Few of us are fortunate enough to learn from others talking. Most of us learn by doing. That is my method.
I have a very diverse background range from English to science. My jobs require me to understand complex topics so that I can convert them into concepts that are understandable by lay audiences. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Humanities. I am finishing my Master of Science in Ent ... read more

Very simply, I believe that an instructor should be a facilitator of the learning process, not a dictator. The best learning is that which is done by the student him/herself through experiencing and seeing things firsthand. I strive to get to know my students and make my tutoring sessions unique and tailored to fit each individual student's needs.
I have a masters degree in psychology, specializing in child development. During my undergraduate studies, I minored in music and English. In recent years, I have taught music and English to both children and adults. I also have a great deal in knowledge in other subject areas, like history, religion, and even a little Spanish.

I enjoy teaching, I find it to be one of the most rewarding expeirences not only for the learner but for the teacher as well. Although my experience is with adult learners, I would welcome the opportunity to work with children. I had an opportunity to volunteer as a big sister for the BBBS organization and I really enjoyed the interaction between myself and my 5th grade mentee. As far as my teaching style, I try not to limit the learner or myself to any one particular style. I believe everyone has a unique and idividual way of learning. What works for one person may not work for another. There are many approaches and methods of teaching, some learners are visual while others may be more participative. My style of teaching is centered around the learner, I leave it up to the learner to determine what my style will be. I am always very excited about the opportunity to learn ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am passionate about teaching the natural sciences to students and others who wish to learn. I have been in situations in both my undergraduate and graduate experiences were I have had to mentor and provide assistance to students in a number of ways, including tutoring. These experiences have developed me into a patient and understanding person, which is how I would describe my teaching style.I understand the difficulties that students may face when trying to grasp difficult concepts and that some students may require more time in order to comprehend these concepts, especially scientific concepts. I am dedicated, when teaching, to ensuring that the student understand the concept that I am teaching and its application.
For the past two years I have been employed as a Graduate Assistant at Morehead State University. My responsibilities as a graduate assistant included the preparatio ... read more
