In January of 2008, I was hired to work at the University of Akron – Wayne College Learning Center as a peer tutor. We are responsible for helping students that come in seeking tutoring (including test preparation and homework help). Over the past two plus years, I have tutored students in mathematics (college level basic math 1 through calculus one) and chemistry. I believe in learning to do things the "hard" way for math, making change, etc. Calculators are good for higher functions and after basics are learned. I try showing different ways of looking at something so the child will understand one way or another. I stress creativity and working things out for yourself as that is needed in life.

During my time at Hocking Technical College, I was taking alot of biology related classes such as Botany, Ohio Trees, Aquatic Ecology and many other related classes. I recently spent my final year in college employed by Ohio University as a tutor for athletes. I was paired with a young wrestler and my duties were to help him with all aspects of his studies.
