I have been teaching and tutoring a diverse student population for almost 9 years. So far, it has been a mutually interesting experience for both parts, students and teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

My strongest area of expertise in teaching is reading. I have taught it for years. I have come to the conclusion through both personal experience, observation of other master teachers and through current educational research that it is most necessary to teach reading and math daily in a systematic manner while exposing the students to a learning rich environment(a classroom reading corner full of books is ideal for this). Research shows that a child needs 100 exposures, repetitions of for example the word “fox” to learn how to read it and make it their own.
I have worked with children in the public school system for thirty-four years as a classroom teacher, Title I augmented reading teacher and as a media specialist. I graduated with honors from Toccoa Falls College in NE Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education: English. I am Georgia-certified to teach English Language Arts in grades 6-12 and my student teaching internship was 9th, 11th, and 12th grade in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. I just finished a two-year contract at an international school in Daejeon, South Korea, teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Reading and Writing.
