When my only son was born I was a caregiver to my mother who had suffered numerous strokes and was wheelchair bound. When he started school I became a full time substitute teacher and then enrolled in Florida's Teacher Professional Educator's Certification program.I am certified in k-6th and Integrated Middle School. I homeschooled my only son in the 9th and 10th grades due to a bully situation. I am very proud to say he is graduating this year from the University of Florida, Cum Laude in Biochemistry and math. He will continue on to med school in the fall. I love children and enjoy teaching. I have tutored numerous students of all ages and subjects and they too have graduated and moved on to wonderful careers. I find that teaching is as much about getting to know each person, finding there strengths and weaknesses and using those to benefit them in their process of understanding. I like to come up with creative approaches that will suit each individual's strengths for learning. I know that one on one attention, support and encouragement is a large component of what is missing in a lot of today's public school classrooms and love the opportunity that tutoring can provide to children who can learn just as well as anyone else, but may not be finding success in the classroom. I live for the moment when the "light bulb" comes on, there is no greater reward for that individual or the person that got to help them arrive there. I am a lover of learning.
