I have had over fifty hours of experience tutoring math on the spot. Students would come in at whatever time was convenient for them while I was available with varying questions from a wide array of subjects. Sessions were student-led and I worked on quickly transferring between completely different topics.
I am used to student-led teaching. The students choose the topic they feel they need the most help with. I walk him/her through an example problem or two and then he/she does a few alone. Once I feel that he/she is comfortable with the topic, I ask whether he/she would like to try any more. I try to tailor my style to the student. Each student I had tutored when I was in college I had basically spoke with them, got to learn what they strong points were, their weaknesses, and areas that needed more base learning. I tailored lesson plans to help fill in their educational gaps, created small weekly assignments, and also helped with their current homework/lesson plan. I believe everyone learns in different ways.
