My philosophy of teaching is based on my threefold belief that the overall mission of an educator is to promote positive learning, ignite enthusiasm for learning, and provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Teaching methods should be inventive, interactive, student-driven, and receptive to a variety of learning styles. This requires active participation from both the students and the teacher. The specific approaches I feel are most beneficial are inquiry-based and experiential learning. This engages the students in tangible exercises that encourage optimal learning and retention.

Our children today need to be encouraged and given the opportunity to develop. Some students aren't able to get the attention they need in a classroom setting with all of the other students. All they may need is one on one time to help explain the concept in a way they understand. I'm a very "hands on" tutor and like developing fun, creative ways for the students to learn. I am attentive, encouraging, patient, and considerate and will be available to help the children succeed. My goal is to make a positive difference in each students life.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have six children of my own and know that every child learns differently, even when they come from the same family. I believe the majority of children can master the material they are presented in school, but it is a matter of time. Many children take a little more time to understand the concepts and master the skills needed to move on to the next level. Sadly many of these children aren't given the time to do it and are just passed on to the next level. By doing this they fall further and further behind until they become discouraged to the point of quitting. I desire to reach those children. Not every child is an "A" student, but every child has his or her unique gifts. I strive to help each child find those gifts and to do the best he or she can in every area.
