My comments on tutoring Study Skills : Homework and study skills are one of my strength areas. I can help you get the most out of your textbook resources, knowing when to ask the teacher for extra help, searching for online help effectively, creating study materials such as note cards, and generally setting up a study routine that works for you.

I prefer personal and small group teaching, but I can also do online tutoring with Webex. I like to get to know my students and their goals. I can help students set those goals, make plans, and achieve. I have lots of experience creating curriculum materials and lessons, and I try to find a real-life application to each lesson.
My career path has winded around quite a bit but always focuses on computer science and math education. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is about positive feedback and patience. With my experience in psychology I have found that a calm nurturing environment lends itself to bolstering understanding for children. Also, a calm environment allows a child the ability to think without excessive distraction. Everyone learns in their own personal way and as a mentor I would like to help foster that.
As a college graduate and a mentor at a behavioral health facility I have gained valuable knowledge and confidence in one on one guidance. I have a BA in psychology and a BFA in studio arts and I am currently pursuing a place as a PhD candidate in the educational psychology program at UNL. I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. I am also a strong technical trainer in my current role and provide necessary computer and analytical training to all new associates at the current company I work for.
I teach to the student. I find exactly what their strengths are and incorporate it in some way to learn something new. Education is a set of building blocks and can only be as strong as the foundation.
