My name is Maria Francesca, and I may be the ideal tutor for you! I am a nutrition student at Arizona State University on my last semester of studies and native Italian. I lived in Italy all my life and now that I moved in USA I would be happy to help you to learn my language. As part of my work, I tutor students in Italian Language (including reading, vocabulary and writing). and test prep (GED, GRE, SHSAT, SAT). Besides tutoring, I also have a lot of work experience as a substitute teacher and teaching assistant in various classrooms. I have experience with students of all ages, and grade of knowledge. In general, I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences in addition to worksheets. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the stude ... read more

My comments on tutoring Biology : Human Biology is what I love, and would be able to show your student how to understand both the human and other types of biological studies

I am a hands on type of a tutor, I start from the basics and work my way up to their current subjects, so that they can build on a good foundation, understanding the basics is the most critical step to understanding the complexities of Algebra and above, and how the sciences start to get more complex in human anatomy and physiology.
In my years of education, I found that some of the methods used for teaching these subjects were inadequately explained, therefore causing students not to truly understand how to apply mathematics and science in school and their every day life. I have learned how to tutor in these subjects from raising my own children, all of whom found these subjects to be hard until I showed them how to avoid the pitfalls of our educations system. All of my kids were A students and are now in college, none of them now have a hard time understanding the subjects and ... read more

Enthusiastic learner and tutor!

With respect to tutoring, I worked during the summer of 2009 as a teachers assistant for a summer-school program known as Korea Poly. The students were 3-6th graders and required assistance in completing homework and practicing and refining their English writing and speaking skills. My duties included checking and correcting homework assignments, and being available during the homework hours for questions and help. In addition I have been the recipient of tutoring before, so I am familiar with student considerations and concerns when it comes to having a tutor.

I am currently certified in the state of Arizona in the following subjects: English, Latin and general sciences. I teach two courses of Latin at Glendale Community College, Glendale, Arizona. One class is in the classroom and the other is on the Internet. I also am a substitute teacher in Peoria, Arizona.
My teaching style is quite organized, but also empathetic. I allow for students to use their various aptitudes and abilities to learn. For example, when a student normally presents a report to the class, that student reads from his notes. I had one student who was musically inclined and played her guitar to make her presentation. She used her musical skills quite effectively.

I pride myself in the fact that I am a life long learner. I continued my education in graduate school in order to excel in my professional field, but also to assist others in their life long goals. My masters will be completed in May of 2007 in the field of Education with an emphasis in Counseling/Human Relations. I will utilize this education as a means to counsel, teach and explore. I have excellent written and oral skills and I have extensive knowledge in the health science field.
My style of teaching varies per student. I am able to adapt to fit the child's style of learning. I have found that many students are discovery students or kinetic learners. I enjoy giving examples and finding understanding in a problem. Children need positive enforcement and encouragement. I enjoy working will all age groups and seeing each child achieve their goals.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring in elementary school. I tutored students in grades below mine in reading, spelling, grammar, math, and science. I continued tutoring fellow students in high school, as well as teaching children as a church volunteer. After studying the administration of justice and evidence technology at Phoenix College, I finished my BS at University of Phoenix. While earning my degree, I used the knowlege and skills I have gained to help struggling students succeed as well.
I would describe my teaching style as straight-forward, but constructive and rewarding. I believe patience is important and that small successes lead to larger ones. I understand that each student has different needs and learning styles vary, therefore I work to tailor my methods to the individual student while keeping the information plain to reduce confusion. I believe that teaching is about supportin ... read more

At this point in my professional career, I currently do not have any experience teaching in a formal classroom environment. However, my experience does extend into performance education, as I have three years experience working for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in which I increased participation of general visitor and school audiences in gallery programs by performing in educational demonstrations and facilitating hands-on experiences. This included presentations in astronomy, biology and earth sciences.
I find that students have their own unique style of learning. I also believe that by establishing a solid set of study skills while catering to individual techniques of the student, the learning process can grow and thrive. Therefore, I would combine my training in theatre and performance to make learning an enjoyable process. I have a very kind and patient disposit ... read more

As a graduate of a college known as the Ivy League of the South and a highly ranked business school, I am very driven to teach others to achieve success in their education experience. I have earned my bachelor degree in Accounting while working full time and later went back to school studying medicine. I am now a Tutor in several of the most frustrating and demanding subjects: Accounting, Calculus, Algebra, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology and Physics. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to see the success in children's eyes. I am patient and kind, but have big expectations. I believe in active engaged learning and using higher levels of thinking when possible.Having a special education background, I believe all children can learn at their own developmental rate. I celebrate even the smallest success and truly mean it. Even though, I have been in administration, I continued to teach in classrooms, mentor and tutor students. So often, the appreciation of the students and parents has been afforded to me.

I have a lot of patience, especially patience to help students by carefully showing them their mistakes. Students learn best by listening and correcting errors -getting the correct result. Learning by doing and discovery fit into this scenario.
Presently, I am a part time adjunct instructor. As a superintendent and principal, I have observed 100’s of classrooms, and being around the best of teachers, I have a pretty good foundation of what good teaching is about. Rasmussen managers and students have also given me wonderful evaluations. It is so important that students are listened to, and it is also vital that classes are dynamic and interesting. Most years of my career was spent in elementary teaching, and in many of those years I served as a tutor. I was also a tutor at Rasmussen College. A Little Bit About Me...

I've been a private tutor in advanced math and physics for two years now. Although I am able to sustain my lifestyle with my current students, I am looking to expand my tutoring into a position with more hours. As a life-long college student, I've received 3 different A.S. degrees including Physics. I am currently an Arizona State University student working toward my Bachelor's in Engineering Physics. I have found tutoring to be the absolute best way to study for your own material. As years go by it is very easy to forget the simple and easy rules we learned when we were young in a simple algebra class, and my performance at much higher levels has been stronger due to my constant review of lower level mathematics with my students.
I enjoy working with adults, but I have worked with all levels (including high functioning autistic teens). I have found that the advanced materi ... read more
