I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.

I am a very encouraging and positive teacher. Growing up with seven siblings, I have learned that patience is the best virtue and children need a stress-free enviroment. I love to use analogies and stories to motivate children to enjoy the sessions. I always felt that it was my mission not to be the "typical" tutor; I want children to look forward learning.
