My comments on tutoring Computer Programming : I've been a web developer for over 20 years. I'm a Sr. Engineer and I'm completely self-taught. I teach object-oriented design, functional design and have taught 100's how to code.

I've been a web developer for over 20 years. I've seen the entire industry evolve in real-time with my own career path. I'm currently working full-time as a principle software engineer for a SaaS company in town. I've built many teams, architected and helped produce many enterprise level systems. I love teaching and am passionate about helping people discover their strengths and choose the right career paths.
There is a saying, "between the teacher and the taught becomes the teaching". I received my BS in Electrical Engineering in December. I was one of two who graduated under the Honor's Program and maintained a 3.72 GPA. I've been tutoring math ever since my second semester in college and even while I was in high school. I've taken Calculus 3, differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics and received an A in each of them. I have a great deal of experience along with a sound background in mathematics.
When it comes to math, there is always more than one way to attack the problem at hand and each method appeals to different students. I usually start off with one and I can quickly tell if another would be more effective for each individual since I've noticed everyone has different styles of learning. I do believe everything mathematical can be taught and learned - there are no lost causes when it comes to math.

I am an aspiring condensed matter physicist with extensive knowledge of chemistry and mathematics. I have experience in the industry working as a researcher and engineer which gave me a deep insight into applying the physical principles I learned in school. I have taught English as a second language in a formal setting and tutored numerous friends and colleagues in matters ranging from introductory physics to technical writing.
I am an extremely patient and positive teacher. I believe that the fundamental gift a teacher can give to their students is the gift of confidence. In my experience the primary obstacle to a student's progress is usually their own disbelief that they can do it. The job required flexibility giving 1-on-1 as well as large-audience, seminar-type technical training. Later I worked as a simulator instructor at Simuflite (Dallas) teaching and certifying people how to fly business jets. I also have extensive experience writing/editing pilot manuals for various avionics systems.
