Math is an especially intimidating subject to many, but learning at an individual pace is often the only barrier to complete understanding. I am patient, and willing and able to explain the workings of different concepts that cannot be covered in a classroom setting, in as many different ways as the student needs. On the other hand, I am mindful of the individual’s learning style and understanding, and will adjust the pace, slower OR faster, to the student. I've worked for a year as a Notetaker for several disabled college students, volunteered 70+ hours as a teacher's aide for elementary school students, volunteered 30+ hours as a teacher's aide for high school students, and worked for a year and a half as an Instructional Student Assistant in a college environment for Computer Science and Information Technology. I strive to include various learning styles when working with children. Some students learn best by listening or writing, while others need movement or tactile experiences to help in comprehension. I believe in keeping students engaged at all times, to minimize wasted time. Every child has potential. A teacher just has to know how to reach each child, and that happens when the students builds trust with the teacher. I have taught music in public education for the last 15 years. I have been involved in church music ministry for over 25 years, and currently am the church pianist in Stockton, Ca. I love working with children of all ages. Math is my second love and I almost majored in math instead of music. Math was always easy for me in school. As a Graduate of CSU Stanislaus I have a lot of experience with working with children. I have run my own music program with elementary students and had a lot of fun doing it. I have also run different camps and different high school groups. i love to help children with anything that they need help with. I love to work and teach children.
