My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I am not classroom trained in this field, nor do i have a psychology degree, and i cant prescribe any medicine. i am twenty years old and have been living with adhd since i was born. I know what it feels like and have trained myself to focus and fit in to society, and i know what its like and the best ways to overcome it and have a positive outlook. i just wish when i was a kid i had someone who had known what it was like, instead of Doctors, taking their best guess at what i feel like

Individualized instruction

I taught for seven years in public education. My experience spans from grades 5-8. In that time, I worked with a diverse population with varying needs. A Little Bit About Me...

My style of teaching really depends on the student and his/her learning style. Different students learn in different ways. I believe it is my responsibility to find which style works best for the student(s).
First teaching job was in a school for severely autistic children. After being there for a year I taught in a residential home for boys. This was challenging but probably one of my favorite jobs as a teacher. Because of the distance from home to work (about 1-1/2 hrs.), I applied at an urban school 20 minutes from my home. My first job there was managing the Young Parents Program. This was a program for high school girls who were pregnant or had already had a child. I have worked with children most of my life and have many years of experience with them, including independently tutoring two elementary students in the early 1990s. I spent two years as a substitute teacher for primarily Groton Public Schools but also Norwich and Waterford Public Schools. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had a wide variety of experiences with youths of all ages.
