A degree in Bioethics reflects the importance I place on interdisciplinary studies. As an undergraduate, I completed all of the Pre-medicine requirements with the exception of a few labs. I believe literature and philosophy to play an essential role in all our respective endeavors but found in lacking in a Biology major. I worked full-time for Okeechobee Eckerds Juvenile home for boys and the Polk County School District. In these positions, I was a reading teacher. I did work many years as a teacher, aide, and assistant that taught special needs learners to strengthen writing, math, and reading difficulties. Hence this gave me experience with many learning situations like one on one and whole group studious conditions. I earned my Bachelors degree in Oregon and starting substituting there on my way to a permanent position. In Oregon, you must have a teaching certificate to sub. By the time my first year ended, they had passed a tax reform bill and were actually laying teachers off. I came to Florida in hopes of getting a teaching position, but found the attitudes on education much different and chose to go another route. I still substitute regularly. I also worked as a Teaching Assistant for a First grade classroom. I also tutored for a national franchize for one year until someone else took over the business.
