"In the second grade my mom sent me to tutor. She was an older women and had once been a prominent local educator. She would sit me at her dining room table and have me do my homework while she watched soap operas in the next room. My experience was stagnant. I hated going to her house and I hated school work. In elementary and middle school, I was a C and D kind of student." "In the eighth grade we moved to a new city and I got a new tutor. It was at an after school program. I have earned my Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Florida State University. With that degree I spent several years in Management and the most recent 6 years teaching. I have taught children at all levels from Kindergarten to High School. At the elementary level I taught computers and computer applications. At the High School level I taught Marketing, Accounting, Computer Applications and Journalism. Before I taught (and while I was teaching) I also spent many hours in private tutoring. My teaching technique the students differ greatly in their ability to acquire knowledge depending on their previous backgrounds and learning styles. Therefore, it is a very challenging task as a tutor to create a fertile learning environment for students with dissimilar needs,and to be able to achieve not only the targeted course objectives, but also inspire students into becoming independent problem-solvers and good thinkers. I have been working in the banking field for over 15 years since I graduated with a degree in business. In Jan. 2009 I was laid off from a banking job for the second time. I am doing a career change to teaching. I have been hired as football coach at Estero High School, I will be working as a teacher this fall 2009. I have been fingerprinted by Lee County School and I am cleared to be employed. I have a son that is 8 years old I help with his home work every night. Last year in the second grade they wanted him to stay back, I said I would help him. This year in second grade he is making E & S Honor Roll.
My teaching style would be the same way I teach my son. I give him the opportunity to learn. I work with him. I put the time in to help him. I take the time to help him, and if he get a problem wrong I help him correct it.
