I work with students of various backgrounds, aging from pre teen to retirement age, many with learning disabilities, many who are also ahead of their peers. I have a resource room and lesson plans for each group of students seperated by subject. I help them with Math, time management and note taking. I work closely with other administrative staff and allow students to discover their potential.
I ask questions, I make math fun!! I draw pictures. The assinments are OUR assignments the students are not alone. Math was hard for me too I GET why they are stuck!!

A Little Bit About Me...

In college, I worked not only to achieve personal academic excellence, but also to help my fellow students attain their academic goals as well. I was a double major, receiving my BA in English and History, and also worked as a mentor and tutor in the college’s Writing Center. I helped students learn to express themselves in writing, combining an emphasis on proper grammar with the recognition of each writer’s individual voice. I tutored students of many fields, including Chemistry and Biology. I also worked as a Teaching Assistant for a freshman Computer Science class my junior and senior years. More than 1,000 students have been enrolled in my math classes over the past 5 years. I have worked with at least 100 students during 1:1 help sessions or professional tutoring. Topics include algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, probability, statistics and physics. I taught 3 years full time at two high schools and I taught more than a dozen semesters part time at 3 colleges.
I am comfortable teaching students in high school or college as well as non-traditional college students. I can easily work with students who struggle or with students who excel. The main point of my teaching is for the student to make progress. My lessons require participation and activity by the student with guidance and leadership from me.
