The education that I have received in Biology and Chemistry enabled me to develop excellent skills not only in many of the life sciences and physics but also math. I've always been really good with the sciences and ever since I can remember would help my classmates. I have volunteered to tutor biology and chemistry in college for almost 3 years. My teaching style is one which engages the student actively in the learning process. I have used the "popcorn" technique in a classroom, where I call out "popcorn", then call on someone at random. This ensures that each student in the class is following, or else they lose their turn to read. If I'm working w/ a student w/ poor reading skills, I allow them to read, and help them w/ the difficult words, encouraging them to sound out the word. I also try to engage models, and kinestetics, in the learning process. One picture=1,000 words, and one model = 1,000 pictures. I also use these techniques in teaching mathematics.
