Possession is 9/10 of the law.. Description is 9/10 of saw.

I have been writing for my whole life, and have a love of the art that is description. Since Mich of humanity's understanding is based on metaphor, description and its subtleties is a key part of any writing process, be it creative or instructional. My favorite form of writing is creative, however I also enjoy writing essays and other pieces based on fact. No matter what form of writing you endeavor to do, getting your point across through description is paramount. I have placed and won poetry contests, and have written many essays of undergraduate and graduate levels.

I believe that every student has the ability to learn. Teachers must take the time to discover the individual needs of students in order to help all students be successful. I strive to provide individualized instruction in all areas and for all children. I firmly believe in involving a child's parents in all aspects of their education. Parents are a child's first teachers!
I have been teaching students with special needs for the past 14 years. I have experience with preschool through 6th grade. I also worked at Sylvan Learning Center, where I worked with students through 12th grade. I especially enjoy working with students with Learning Disabilities, lower cognitive abilities, and children on the Autism Spectrum. I am trained in a reading program for children with Dyslexia. I've tutored two kids in my neighborhood for 40 buck every two weeks. It was a marvelous experience because they were very respectful young boys...majority of the time. It was kind of hard for them to keep their focus so i drew a plan which was rewarding them with candy and toys, and of course since it was my idea I didn't charge extra. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to tutor them anymore because had to move with my mother. All in all, no matter the task I will always try my best to achieve!!!

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a senior college student at The University of Alabama. I speak English and Arabic fluently and fully confident with the basics of the French language. I am also a McNair Scholar and I conduct academic and professional research. Besides being a student and a scholar, I volunteer my free time to tutor students. Because I enjoying tutoring I most of the time don't charge the students. I certainly have a passion to help students and have been tutoring for years.
I am very patient. I will do whatever it takes to ensure that my clients are comfortable with me. Therefore, my teaching style really depends on the client. I teach which way will be best for my client. Before I begin teaching, I tend to ask my clients about their studying habits in order to understand the ways the best help them succeed and, also to see if there's any improvement need to be taking.

More About This Tutor...

My goal when teaching a student is to explain the subject in the most simplest way possible. So next time the student is back in the classroom, they will have some understanding of what the teacher is teaching. I also like to get an understanding of the way the student learns. This helps me when deciding on teaching techniques.
I have over 10 years in tutoring elementary and high school students. I started tutoring in 2000 with the YMCA's after-school program. I stayed there for six years before taking a break to finish college. In summer 2009, I started tutoring with the Boys & Girls Club in Montevallo. I am a hands on/visual, motivating, guided/sheltered, higher order critical thinking teacher with exceptional classroom management skills. I love teaching students how to think however, not what to think. I do this by guiding their learning by using project based learning activities that help them process what they have learning in logical steps using technology. Therefore, the end results of this process is a technologically based product which allows my students to communicate to me in writing what they have learned (PPP)!

I truly enjoy teaching math and enjoy watching the 'click' when a student begins to understand the concepts. I believe many students have been erroneously convinced that "they don't get math" or that math is too hard. I believe in not just working through the problems at hand but in trying to help each student gain a better understanding of the thinking process involved in solving problems. Although proficiency comes through practice, there is more to math than just rote repetition.
I began tutoring students in 1984 while working in the math lab as an undergraduate student at the University of Southern Mississippi. After completing my Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics with a general science minor, I had the opportunity to teach college algebra as a graduate teaching assistant. I have been tutoring/teaching mathematics and some sciences ever since. I have experience tu ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

During high school, my teacher requested that I help others in my class and I realized how much I loved helping others understand how accounting works. Also in helping my children with their school work, I have learned that each child is different and learns in different ways. I would describe my style of teaching as finding out how a particular student learns best and work form that foundation. Some learn better by seeing an example and then working it out on their own with someone to consult if they get stuck. Other learn better with what they hear and others what they read. It is better to see how each person learns best and teach from that angle. Also, patience is the greatest teaching aid available to any teacher or student.
I earned both of my degrees while working and caring for very young children. I feel this was possible because of my time management skills and dete ... read more
