I am not a professional teacher, but I played one in newsrooms at several newspapers. During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic. I have worked with many different types of children and adults. I've found that each person responds differently to different styles of teaching and I am able to adapt to each individual's needs. In May 2009, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from a top New Jersey public college. I took courses in business (specifically marketing,) psychology, and biology, as well as other liberal arts classes. Science and math have always been my strong subjects. As a high-achieving student since elementary school, I often assisted fellow classmates who needed help.
