A Little Bit About Me...

During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked with parents when I owned/operated my private daycare. I have since then worked with children in low poverty communities in Atlanta Georgia, in order to provide an alternative method to learning to ensure that children receive the appropriate level of understanding of various subjects.
What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. I am very flexible in my teaching style and have helped students who learn in very different ways. While I was working with the Reading by the River program I worked with four different students each of which learned in very different ways. From this I learned at a very early time in my life that it is crucial to cater to each individual students needs. I personally have a more analytical mind and analytical learning style however I have learned how to explain technical aspects of accounting in a variety of ways.
When I was in 7th and 8th grade I participated in America Reads where I helped teach elementary children how to read.
