All children are students; they can learn. The question is how best do they learn? I have used many differing styles from rote memorization through self-paced self-education. I encourage students to see the wonder and "mystery" (there really isn't any mystery) of Math, regardless of the level, in the real world. To that aid, I try to present real world problems at levels the student can understand. For lower level students, I investigate with them the development of the linear equations involved in setting up a relationship between two factors. A higher level student would solve multiple linear equations. A height vs. time linear relationship then can become quadratic, thus involving sports as an application.

I enjoy working with children and feel that they each have their own individual learning style. At times, I feel that conventional educational methods may fail some children. Educators must learn to be flexible, and allow students to learn in the style that they feel most comfortable. Learning and teaching is my passion. In high school it ws teachers with the same passion that made learning fun and encouraged me to achieve academic success.
