A Little Bit About Me...

Mike's Guitar Studio is based on the belief that the students needs are of the utmost importance. The Studio is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. Lessons are catered towards what the student wants to learn. There is no one method that works for each student. Each student has different ways of learning, we recognize this and apply it to our teaching policy. The Lessons should be a fun and positive experience as the student progresses on his or her instrument. The primary instructor/ owner, Mike Benninger, has a B.M. in music performance from Keene State College and a M.M. in music performance from the Yale School of Music. Mike's Guitar Studio is located in New Windsor in Mike's Home Recording/Music studio. Recording can be an added tool for recording lessons, songs, pieces, and ideas.

Since the age of 13 I have been playing bass. Since 1993 I've been a self employed bassist, audio engineer, producer and programmer. In addition to performing, I have extensive experience with computer audio/music recording and production. In that time, I have toured the world playing in several different musical styles. I graduated from McGill University in Montreal in 2001, with a BA in Geography and a minor in History. Since then I have had a very diverse experience, working in Vermont as a teacher's aide as well as in a land trust, and in Montreal managing a nightclub and booking bands and acts from Canada and the US. My passion is English literature. I read constantly and love sharing books with my friends and students. I am fluent in French, having lived in France as a child, and graduated from the Lycee Francais de New York high school in 1997.
