Pre-Calculus is one of my top subjects!

I prefer to use materials that students have been given in their classroom (textbooks, homework, study guides, notes) and provide additional explanation and examples. I always ask students which areas they would like to go over most importantly. I ask them to try an example problem with me, and then one without me until they feel confident in their ability to solve that type of math problem and its concepts.

My comments on tutoring Pre-Calculus : The contents of a Pre-Calculus class vary school-to-school. I can help you identify the core concepts in your particular class, fill gaps in prior knowledge, learn study skills specific to high-level math topics, and more. Pre-Calculus is often a survey and extension of multiple topic areas including algebra and trig, so in Pre-Calc generally we create lots of summary review and reference materials, while also showing a lot of detailed work that explains *why* topics are connected, not just *how* to do problems.

I prefer personal and small group teaching, but I can also do online tutoring with Webex. I like to get to know my students and their goals. I can help students set those goals, make plans, and achieve. I have lots of experience creating curriculum materials and lessons, and I try to find a real-life application to each lesson.

Ever since I was young, I have always found joy in mathematics. Number puzzles, real life applications, and the teaching of math are all fascinating and enjoyable to me. I studied mathematics and economics in college so I could work on more advanced quantitative problems for a career. I later returned to school to get a Master's degree in Operations Research, a mathematical modeling discipline. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2008 and am now almost done with my Master's in Biomedical Sciences. I was a laboratory teaching assistant for two years and a math tutor in the Creighton University Math Department for 2 years. I also did some private math tutoring for the undergraduates in Calculus I as well.
